About PDF Watermarker

PDF Watermarker adds a text label or PNG/JPG image to every page of a PDF. Use it to identify a draft, label an internal-review copy, or place a creator or company name on a document you are preparing to share. The controls let you adjust opacity, size, rotation and position, with an optional repeated pattern across the page.

A preview shows how the selected settings look on the first page before you apply them. The finished PDF is a separate download, so you can retain an unmarked original. A watermark is a visible label, not access control: it does not encrypt the file, prevent copying, or hide confidential text underneath. Review the marked document as a whole before sending it.

How to use PDF Watermarker

  1. Choose the PDF

Upload a PDF and wait for the controls and preview to load.

  2. Choose text or image

Select Text Watermark and edit Watermark text, or select Image Watermark and choose a PNG/JPG.

  3. Adjust the appearance

Set size, opacity, rotation and position. Turn on Repeat watermark across page if you want a tiled pattern.

  4. Preview and apply

Check the first-page preview and select Add Watermark to PDF.

  5. Save and check

Download Watermarked PDF and review every page, especially pages with different layouts.

Example: A review draft

Enter DRAFT, choose Center, set opacity to 30% and rotation to −45°. Check that the first-page label is readable without obscuring the text, then apply it to all pages.

How it works

The tool loads the PDF and draws additional text or an embedded image onto each page using pdf-lib. A text watermark uses the chosen font size and color; an image watermark uses the selected scale while keeping its proportions. Opacity changes how strongly the mark is drawn, and rotation and position control its placement. Repeat mode draws a tiled pattern rather than a single mark.

The preview combines a rendered first page with the current watermark settings. It is a placement aid, not a page-by-page review of the finished document. During export, settings are applied to the pages in the source PDF, including different page dimensions and rotations. The result keeps the existing page content and adds the mark, but it does not redact or protect that content. Download and open the new file to check the complete result.

When is this useful?

  • Label a document as DRAFT.
  • Mark an internal review copy CONFIDENTIAL.
  • Add a company name or logo to shared documents.

Things to know

  • PDFs are limited to 50 MB and watermark images to 10 MB. Images must be PNG or JPG.
  • The preview shows the first page; check the other pages after downloading.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Text uses a standard PDF font, so unsupported characters may fail to export.

Privacy & processing

The PDF and optional watermark image are read in this browser. Watermark drawing and PDF export happen locally; those files are not uploaded to a ToolMyth server for processing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an image watermark?

Yes. Choose Image Watermark and select a PNG or JPG. A transparent PNG can be useful for a logo without a rectangular background.

Is the mark added to every page?

Yes. Export applies the settings across the PDF. The on-screen preview shows only the first page.

Can I make the watermark less prominent?

Yes. Lower Opacity, reduce the size or choose another position. An opacity of 0% makes the mark invisible.

Does a watermark protect confidential information?

No. It is a visible label. It does not encrypt the PDF or remove information from the underlying pages.

Is the original file modified?

No. The download has a watermarked filename and is a new document.
