Compare product pricing with calculators for profit, margin, and markup. These terms describe related quantities but use different inputs and denominators. Choosing the right calculator helps explain whether you are setting a price from cost, measuring profit from an existing sale, or expressing that profit as a share of revenue.
Choosing a tool
Use Markup Calculator when you know cost and want to apply a percentage increase to set a selling price. Use Margin Calculator when you know cost and selling price and need the percentage of revenue left as profit. Profit Calculator shows the difference between selling price and cost. A markup percentage is not interchangeable with the same margin percentage. Include the costs relevant to your comparison, and remember that these simple calculations do not automatically account for overhead, tax, returns, or payment fees. Check the result against your business records before setting prices.
