PDF Split
Extract a page range from a PDF, or split every page into its own file.
About PDF Split
PDF Split helps you take a smaller document out of a larger PDF. Choose a consecutive range of pages to create one new PDF, or split every page into a separate PDF and download the collection as a ZIP file. This is useful for sharing one chapter, separating scanned receipts or sending only the relevant part of a report.
Page numbers refer to the actual positions in the PDF, starting at 1. They may differ from page labels printed on the document, especially when a cover or contents page comes first. Check your source before choosing the range. The split downloads are new files, so your original document remains available for another selection.
How to use PDF Split
- Choose a PDF
Select a document and wait for its page count to appear.
- Select a split mode
Use Extract a range for one consecutive section, or Split every page for separate files.
- Set the range
In range mode, set From page and To page using the PDF’s page positions.
- Create and download
Select Extract pages or Split into files, then Download. Every-page mode produces a ZIP.
Example: Extract a chapter
For a 12-page PDF, choose Extract a range with From page 4 and To page 6. The downloaded PDF contains 3 pages, in their original order.
How it works
Range extraction copies the pages between the start and end positions, including both endpoints, into a new document. Internally, PDF page positions start at zero, but the interface uses the familiar numbering from 1. The first selected page becomes page 1 of the output, so a source range of 4–6 becomes a three-page PDF rather than keeping empty spaces for the earlier pages.
In every-page mode, the tool creates a new single-page PDF for each source page and places the files in a ZIP archive. You download one archive and then extract its contents on your device. Neither mode removes pages from the original. Pages are copied rather than rasterized; review the output if the source relies on forms, bookmarks, links or signatures that extend beyond the selected pages.
When is this useful?
- Share one section of a report.
- Separate a batch of scanned documents.
- Create individual page files for another workflow.
Things to know
- Range mode supports one consecutive interval, not a comma-separated list of pages.
- Encrypted PDFs may need to be unlocked before page copying.
- A large every-page split can require substantial memory for both the PDFs and ZIP archive.
Privacy & processing
PDF pages are read and copied locally with browser-based PDF libraries. ZIP packaging also happens in this browser. The selected document is not uploaded to a ToolMyth processing server.
Frequently asked questions
Are both ends of the range included?
Yes. Pages 4 through 6 produce pages 4, 5 and 6.
Why do I get a ZIP instead of a PDF?
Split every page creates many PDF files. They are bundled into one ZIP download; extract it to access each PDF.
Can I choose pages that are not next to each other?
Not in range mode. Use PDF Page Extractor for individual page selections.
Do printed page labels control the range?
No. The fields use the actual page positions in the PDF, including covers and other introductory pages.
