About PDF Merge

PDF Merge combines two or more PDF documents into a single downloadable file. It is useful when a report, application or meeting pack is spread across separate attachments and the recipient needs to read them in one sequence. Add your documents, check the file list, and move files up or down before merging.

All pages from each selected file are included in that order. This is a document-combining tool, rather than a page editor: it does not let you remove individual pages while merging. Use PDF Split or a page-management tool first if you only want part of a source document. The originals remain unchanged.

How to use PDF Merge

  1. Add your documents

Choose or drop at least two PDFs into the upload area. You can add more files to the list.

  2. Check the order

Use the up and down arrows beside each file. Remove any document you do not want included.

  3. Merge the files

Select Merge PDFs and wait for the progress indicator to finish.

  4. Save the result

Select Download merged PDF and check the downloaded document before sharing it.

Example: One application pack

Merge a 2-page cover letter, a 4-page proposal and a 1-page appendix in that order. The new PDF has 7 pages, with the appendix last.

How it works

The merger reads each selected file into browser memory and creates a new PDF. It copies every page from the first document, then every page from the next document, continuing through the file list. The arrow controls change the order of whole documents; they do not rearrange pages inside a document. The page count in the result is the sum of the source page counts.

Pages are copied as PDF pages rather than converted into screenshots. However, document-level features such as bookmarks, form behavior or digital signatures should not be assumed to survive a merge unchanged. A successful download means a new file was created, not that every advanced feature has been verified. Open the result in your usual PDF viewer and inspect it if those features matter.

When is this useful?

  • Combine a report and its appendices.
  • Bundle several attachments into one submission.
  • Put meeting documents into reading order.

Things to know

  • The file list supports up to 20 documents; each selected PDF is limited by the upload control.
  • Password-protected or damaged PDFs can fail to load; unlock supported encrypted documents first.
  • Large files use browser memory. Check forms, bookmarks and signed documents in the output.

Privacy & processing

Selected PDF bytes are read with the browser File API and combined using pdf-lib in this browser. The documents are not uploaded to a ToolMyth server for merging. Downloading creates a new file on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the order before merging?

Yes. Move each file up or down in the list. All of its pages move together.

Can I merge only selected pages?

This merger includes every page. Extract the pages you need with PDF Split or PDF Page Extractor first.

Does merging overwrite my original PDFs?

No. It creates a new merged.pdf download; the selected files are read without being edited on disk.

Why can a password-protected PDF fail?

PDF Merge does not provide a password field. Use Unlock PDF with a valid password for a supported document, then merge the unlocked copy.
