About UUID Generator

UUID Generator creates random version 4 UUID identifiers using the browser’s cryptographic random API. Choose a quantity, generate a batch, then copy one identifier, copy the whole list or download a text file. It is useful for test records, sample data and workflows that need identifiers without coordinating a sequential number.

A UUID is an identifier, not proof of ownership or an access-control decision. Random generation makes collisions unlikely but does not provide a mathematical guarantee that every value across every system will be different. The tool starts with five generated values and supports batches of up to 1,000. It does not create time-ordered UUIDs or derive identifiers from a name.

How to use UUID Generator

  1. Set the quantity

Choose how many identifiers you need, from 1 to 1,000.

  2. Generate a batch

Select Generate. Changing Quantity alone does not replace the displayed list.

  3. Copy the values

Use the Copy control beside one UUID or Copy all for the complete batch.

  4. Download if needed

Select Download .txt for a file containing one identifier per line.

Example: An identifier for a test record

A version 4 UUID has five hyphen-separated groups. This is an illustrative identifier, not a live account, credential or generated result from your session.

How it works

For each requested item, the generator calls crypto.randomUUID. The browser supplies a random version 4 UUID in its standard hyphenated string representation. The version field identifies the UUID as version 4, rather than a time-based or name-based version. No request to a central numbering server is involved. The quantity is bounded to the supported range when you select Generate, and a new batch replaces the current list.

The identifiers are held in the tool’s current state. Copy all joins them with line breaks, and the download writes the same list into a text file. There is no registry lookup to compare them with identifiers already stored in your application. If uniqueness is a requirement in a database, enforce the appropriate constraint there as well. Generation relies on a browser with crypto.randomUUID support and a secure browsing context, such as the HTTPS ToolMyth site.

When is this useful?

  • Add identifiers to development fixtures.
  • Create a batch of sample record keys.
  • Generate an ID for an offline prototype.

Things to know

  • Only random UUID version 4 is provided, not versions 1, 5 or 7.
  • The batch is limited to 1,000 and is not checked against your database.
  • Regenerating replaces the list, so copy or download values you need to retain.

Privacy & processing

UUIDs are created locally with crypto.randomUUID in this browser. ToolMyth does not request identifiers from a remote generation API; copy and download use the currently displayed list.

Frequently asked questions

Which UUID version is generated?

Version 4, using the browser’s crypto.randomUUID function.

Why did changing Quantity not change the list?

Quantity sets the next batch size. Select Generate to replace the displayed batch.

Can I download all identifiers?

Yes. Download .txt writes the current batch with one UUID per line.

Are the identifiers checked against my existing records?

No. Generation is local and random; the tool has no connection to your database or record system.
